Machining prototypes of large aluminium battery trays for a new electric SUV.
We were asked to machine the prototypes of large aluminium battery trays developed for a new electric SUV. Lightweighting is a critical demand of every EV programme, and these structural trays were no exception.
Large-format aluminium parts bring their own challenges: maintaining flatness and tolerance across a big, relatively thin structure while keeping weight to a minimum.
Our large-format machining capability let us hold the part on a single bed, controlling flatness across the whole structure rather than stitching set-ups together. Adaptive fixturing supported the thin sections without distortion.
As prototypes, they were machined production-representative, so the route to volume was validated from the first part.
Production-ready prototypes, giving the client validated parts and a proven, cost-optimised path into volume.
Bring us the one everyone else says is too hard.
